Women for Women Fund Grantmaking
Overview
Funding requests are accepted once each year according to our grant cycle. Application requirements may change from year to year; therefore, grantseekers are advised to revisit this page prior to beginning the grant application process. Grants are normally given as one-time support of a project but may be considered for additional support for expansions or outgrowths of an initial project. Visit our Apply for a Grant page for instructions on submitting a funding request.
Grant Cycle
We consider requests for funding on a yearly cycle which begins each December. At the start of each cycle, nonprofit organizations that serve Perry County women and girls will receive notification that our funding cycle is beginning. The requirements and instructions provided here are to be considered current and accurate only for the duration of the Women for Women Fund grant cycle, which runs from December through June each year. Funding requests will be accepted from December through the February deadline. Funding requests submitted after the February deadline will not be considered.
Eligibility
The Women for Women Fund welcomes funding requests from nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and from governmental agencies serving Perry County women and girls. Funding requests from other nonprofit organizations to carry out charitable projects or activities that address issues facing women and girls in Perry County may be accepted.
Project Areas Funded by the Women for Women Fund
The Women for Women Fund is used to make yearly grants to support a variety of projects or programs serving women and girls in Perry County. During the 2009/2010 grant cycle, the Fund will consider grant proposals only for projects that address the following need of Perry County women:
The creation or expansion of women's mentoring program that address issues related to generational poverty and breaking the cycle.
Fiscal Sponsors
Funding requests submitted by an entity under the auspices of another agency must include a written statement signed by the agency's board president on behalf of the board of directors agreeing to act as the entity's fiscal sponsor, to receive grant monies if awarded, and to oversee the proposed project.
Funding Range
The Women for Women Fund will consider funding requests of at least $200 but not more than $7,500. Funding requests that do not fall within these limitations will not be considered.
Deliberation
The Women for Women Advisory Committee, in conjunction with the members of the Circle of 100 women's giving circle, will review grant proposals, consider oral project presentations made by grant applicants, and make its recommendations on funding to the Perry County Community Foundation Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees will make final funding recommendations to the Community Foundation Alliance Board of Directors (our governing board).
No lobbying or soliciting of Advisory Committee or Circle of 100 members will be permitted outside the special meeting designated for applicant oral project presentations. All organizations that have submitted a grant proposal will be notified of the special meeting date no later than March 1, 2010. Additional details concerning the oral presentations will be given at that time.
Reporting Procedures
If the funding request is approved, the organization is required to submit a six-month progress report and a final report at project completion as instructed by the Community Foundation Alliance. Organizations approved for funding must complete their projects within one year of receiving the grant award.
