Eligibility and Criteria

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is active from November through January each school year. The information contained on this page is NOT to be considered current at any other time.

Conditions for the Award
Students named as Lilly Endowment Community Scholars must:

  1. Graduate from high school by the end of June 2010. 
  2. Apply for admission to a full-time baccalaureate degree program at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
  3. Select the college or university they will attend and notify their Community Foundation of selection no later than May 1, 2010.
  4. Hold freshman status upon entering their chosen college or university.
  5. Apprise the Community Foundation annually of their academic status while pursuing their baccalaureate degree and of their postgraduate status (education and employment) for at elast ten years after graduation.
  6. Account for and return to ICI any amount of the allocation for required books and equipment remaining at the end of each school year.
  7. Decline any scholarships awarded through the Foundation's Community Scholarship Program upon notification of award of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Be a resident of Indiana and be a resident of or attend high school in Perry County.
  2. Be a graduate of an accredited Perry County or Indiana high school or academy by June 2010 and attend full senior year at the same high school.
  3. Have a minimum SAT score of 1700 out of 2400, or an ACT score of 25.
  4. Have qualified for the Core 40 or Honors diploma in high school upon graduation.
  5. Be available for an interview with the scholarship committee if selected as a finalist.
  6. Apply for the scholarship in only one county.

Selection Criteria 

First phase (25%) includes the following:

  • Academic performance
  • Essay
  • Community and school involvement
  • Special circumstances

Second phase (75%) includes the following:

  • Interview
