James and Sue Campbell Scholarship Fund

James and Sue Campbell were married in 1935 but never had any children. They owned and operated Campbell Realty and Tax Service. They were also members of EUCC Church in Tell City. Mr. Campbell passed away in 2000.

Soon after Mr. Campbell’s passing Mrs. Campbell decided to use some of their GE stock to set up a designated fund for EUCC Church. This designated fund was to be used for scholarships from the church. Her gift value was worth just over $100,000.

When Sue Campbell decided to set up this fund for EUCC, she did it at the right time. The Lilly Endowment’s GIFT Phase IV was going on. This GIFT phase allowed a dollar for dollar match on her gift. But Mrs. Campbell did not add all the money into her scholarship fund. Instead, she took a portion to start a new fund…..the Kids Kreation Playground Fund. This fund is a designated fund in which grants are distributed to Leadership Perry County every year for maintenance of the playground in Joe Schaffer Park (aka Castle Park). Not only did Mrs. Campbell make the most out of her gift by doing it at a very good time, she also customized it to fit her imagination.
