Scholarships and Criteria

The Community Scholarship Program is active from December 1 through June 30 each school year. The information contained on this page is NOT to be considered current at any other time.

The Foundation administers separate scholarship funds established by individuals, families, corporations, and organizations to assist local students in pursuit of advanced education. Together, these scholarships make up our Community Scholarship Program. Eligibility, criteria, and supplemental requirements are different for each scholarship. Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $370.

Criteria: Applicants must be full or part-time employees of the Branchville Correctional Facility or dependents of employees. The dependents must be 23 years old or younger. The applicant must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a course of study leading to an undergraduate degree at any accredited college, university or technical school. Preference will be given to employees and then to employees' dependents. Selection will be based on scholastic record, evidence of leadership, career plans and objectives, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Letter of recommendation from an individual other than a family member or another employee of the Branchville Correctional Facility in support of applicant's desire to attain higher education.

Award Amount: $380.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County high school demonstrating good academic standing. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $1,050.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County high school pursuing a career in law enforcement or a related field. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $530.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County high school planning to major in education and pursue a career in education. Applicants must demonstrate good academic standing and financial need. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form, financial need, and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $500.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County high school enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited four-year college, university or institution; an accredited two-year program leading to a four-year undergraduate degree; an accredited two-year degree program; or a full- time program at an accredited trade, vocational or technical school. Selection will be based on financial need, high moral standards, ambition, definite goals, and the required essay. Applicants must have maintained a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) during their junior and senior years of high school.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $2,630.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County high school pursuing additional education in business. Selection will be based on academic standing, financial need, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $500.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of Tell City High School with a class ranking of no higher than 8th and no lower than 50th. Selection will be based on financial need, moral character, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $1,000.

Criteria: Graduating seniors from each of the three Perry County high schools who have been enrolled during the entire senior year. Selection will be based on ability in chosen field of study (academic, technical, vocational, or trade), school attendance record, financial need, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: Three awards of $370 each.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of Cannelton High School or Tell City High School pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of no less than 2.0 (4.0 scale). Selection will be based on applicant's success in overcoming difficult circumstances, a history of working hard to achieve aspirations and goals, the desire to help others, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Perseverance (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages) describing the challenges faced in order to pursue past and/or future aspirations and goals. Letter of recommendation in support of the applicant's ability to overcome challenges and obstacles.

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $500. May be renewable for consecutive sophomore, junior and senior years provided that the recipient continues to pursue his or her educational goals and maintains at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale). Renewal award amounts may differ from the original award.

Criteria: Graduating seniors from each of the three Perry County high schools pursuing advanced training in a vocational field such as electrical, mechanical, welding, or carpentry at an accredited college, university, or vocational technical school. Selection will be based on capability in chosen vocational field, financial need, and the required essay. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: Three awards of $700 each.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of Tell City High School pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants must demonstrate an active interest in the arts, a strong academic record, and financial need. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $1,290.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County high school pursuing post-secondary education of any kind. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $660.

Criteria: Perry County residents who are or will be graduates of a public or private high school, including a home school education program, in the application year. Applicants must be active members of First Baptist Church of Tell City pursuing a post-secondary degree at any accredited college or university. Selection will be based on financial need, grade point average, difficulty of secondary school curriculum, SAT/ACT scores, involvement in community/church service, participation in school/extracurricular activities, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Criteria: Graduates of any Perry County high school pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants must have a 2.0 (4.0 scale) minimum cumulative grade point average. Selection will be based on financial need, difficulty of school curriculum, SAT/ACT scores, involvement in community/church service, participation in school/extracurricular activities, and a history of working hard to achieve goals.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Perseverance (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages) describing the challenges faced in order to pursue past and/or future aspirations and goals. Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of Tell City High School pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants must be in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need. Selection will be based on academic performance, financial need, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $1,340.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County high school. Applicants must have been members of 4-H for a minimum of five years. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $750.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of any Perry County High School pursuing post secondary education. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a (4.0 scale). Selection will be based on applicant's success in overcoming difficult circumstances, a history of working hard to achieve aspirations and goals and the desire to help others along with the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements: Statements of Perseverance (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages) describing the challenges faced in order to pursue past and/or future goals. Letter of recommendation in support of the applicant's ability to overcome challenges and obstacles will be required as well.

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $480.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of Tell City High School pursuing post-secondary vocational education or specific career training. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a strong academic record. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $90.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of Tell City High School pursuing a college degree in music and a career in music. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and good academic standing-preferably a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) but slightly lower GPAs will be considered. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $820.

Criteria: Graduates of Perry Central High School pursuing post-secondary education. Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $3,560. Multiple scholarships may be awarded from total amount listed.

Criteria: Graduating seniors of Tell City High School or Perry Central High School pursuing post-secondary education at any Indiana institution of higher learning. Applicants must be considered a rural resident during their entire senior year of high school, must have attended their entire senior year at Tell City High School or Perry Central High School, and must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale). Selection will be based on all sections of the application form and on the supplemental document(s).

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

Award Amount: $2,030.

Criteria: Graduates or graduating seniors of any Perry County high school pursuing education for a career in medicine or healthcare. Selection will be based on grade point average, financial need, required essay, and community involvement.

Supplemental Requirements: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages). Completion of the "Financial Assistance Questionnaire."

Applicants must be residents of Perry County and have a minimum cumulative high school or college grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale).
